Raft/Slot Canyon Tour

Horseshoe Bend Slot Canyon Tours and Colorado River Discovery are proud to provide a package of the top two tours in Northern Arizona!  The Half Day Rafting/Slot Canyon package will give you the opportunity to experience the amazing geology and incredible erosion of both Glen Canyon and Horseshoe Bend Slot Canyon.  You will experience the relaxing stretch of the Colorado River and get an exciting 4×4 adventure ride to a private slot canyon.

Trip Description

Your trip will begin at the Colorado River Discovery Welcome Center to check in and be given a brief orientation for the day.

The river rafting portion of your trip will begin with an exciting ride down the two-mile long Glen Canyon Dam access tunnel. With the dam soaring 700 feet above you, you will board a motorized pontoon raft for your journey downstream, where you will experience one of the most dramatic stretches of river found in the western United States. While underway, your experienced guide will tell the area’s story of soaring sandstone cliffs, crystal blue-green waters, abundant wildlife, former inhabitation by native cultures, exploration by Major John Wesley Powell, and the Colorado River’s modern role in the Southwest’s water and power delivery system. Your trip will also include a stop to view ancient petroglyphs left by Ancestral Puebloan peoples. The Colorado River rafting portion of your trip ends at back at Glen Canyon Dam, where you will board our vehicle for the short ride back to the Welcome Center in Page.

Your slot canyon tour begins with a thrilling off-road adventure through sandy washes, rolling hills, and sandstone rocks of Navajo lands to a secluded slot canyon in a shaded, open-air, 4×4 tour vehicle. Upon arrival at the trailhead, you will be led by your knowledgeable guide on a hike to and through the slot canyon.  You will have an hour to meander, photograph, and and explore one of the longest slot canyons on the Navajo Nation. Your guide will share information about the area’s geography, plant and animal life, local Native American history, and how the unique slot canyon formations were created. You will return to the Colorado River Discovery Welcome Center in Page after your slot canyon tour. In an effort to ensure the highest quality experience and to avoid feeling crowded or rushed, we limit the number of visitors in the slot canyon to less than 15 at a time.

A delicious Bistro lunch will be provided for your day of adventure.
