Hidden Canyon Kayak and Colorado River Discovery are excited to provide a package trip that gives you the opportunity to experience the beauty of Glen Canyon from two perspectives, both above and below the Dam. This package is perfect for people of all ability levels. It will give you a chance to learn the fundamentals of kayaking from experienced instructors on spectacular Lake Powell as well as relax and enjoy the solitude and beauty of the Colorado River.
Glen Canyon Rafting Tour
The river rafting portion of your trip will have a similar itinerary to our 1/2 Day rafting trips. It will begin with an exciting ride down the two-mile long Glen Canyon Dam access tunnel. With the dam soaring 700 feet above you, you will board a motorized pontoon raft for your journey downstream, where you will experience one of the most dramatic stretches of river found in the western United States.
While underway, your experienced guide will tell the area’s story of soaring sandstone cliffs, crystal blue-green waters, abundant wildlife, former inhabitation by native cultures, exploration by Major John Wesley Powell, and the Colorado River’s modern role in the Southwest’s water and power delivery system. Your trip will also include a stop to view ancient petroglyphs left by Ancestral Puebloan peoples. The Colorado River rafting portion of your trip ends at back at Glen Canyon Dam, where you will board our vehicle for the short ride back to the Welcome Center in Page.
Lake Powell Kayak Tour
The kayaking portion of your trip will take place on the breathtaking waters of Lake Powell.
Guests who choose the AM Kayak/PM Raft trip must meet their kayak guide at the Antelope Point Launch Ramp. After a brief orientation and instruction, you will paddle into the flooded portion of Antelope Canyon via Lake Powell within Glen Canyon National Recreation Area.
Guests who choose the AM Raft/PM Kayak trip must meet at Hidden Canyon Kayak Headquarters. After a brief orientation, you will follow your kayak guide to Lone Rock Beach on Lake Powell within Glen Canyon National Recreation Area.
There is a $25 NPS Entrance Fee into Glen Canyon NRA (National Park Passes are accepted). Please note the current local weather conditions before your trip. Swimwear or water resistant clothes are recommended while kayaking.
Your guide will give you instruction on maneuvering your kayak and let you get comfortable in the calm, wake less zone just off shore. You will experience the turquoise water and learn about the human and natural history of spectacular Lake Powell. As you enter the narrow inlets of Entrada and Navajo sandstone carved by millions of years of erosion, make sure and have your camera ready to take photos. While out paddling, you can enjoy the sunshine and swim in the warm lagoon like waters of Lake Powell with old friends and new.
We will provide you with comfortable and stable sit-on-top tandem kayaks. If you have any questions regarding the kayaking portion of your trip, please call the helpful staff at Hidden Canyon Kayak at (928)660-1836.
*The kayaking portion of your trip may be delayed up to one hour or rescheduled for the following morning if weather conditions do not permit safe kayaking.
A delicious Bistro lunch will be provided for your day of adventure.
